The USAID Eliminating TB in Central Asia (USAID ETICA) Activity is a program aimed at reducing tuberculosis (TB) and drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) in Central Asia.

Abstract
The program operates in five countries: Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan. In Tajikistan, the program focused on increasing detection of TB and DR-TB, improving treatment success rates, and enhancing the enabling environment and financial sustainability of TB and DR-TB programs. The program implemented various activities, including the establishment of community-based TB services, provision of psychosocial counseling, and support for gender-based violence services. The results showed a 27% increase in DR-TB detection compared to the same period in 2020. The treatment success rate for DR-TB patients in pilot oblasts was 74% in Q1 2021. In Uzbekistan, the program aimed to increase detection of TB and DR-TB, improve treatment success rates, and enhance the enabling environment and financial sustainability of TB and DR-TB programs. The program implemented activities such as the establishment of community-based TB services, provision of psychosocial counseling, and support for gender-based violence services. The results showed a 25% increase in DR-TB detection compared to the same period in 2020. The treatment success rate for DR-TB patients in pilot oblasts was 72% in Q1 2021. The program also implemented various activities in Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, including the establishment of community-based TB services, provision of psychosocial counseling, and support for gender-based violence services. The results showed a significant increase in DR-TB detection and treatment success rates in both countries. The program's budget expenditures for the quarter were $X, with the majority allocated to personnel costs, program activities, and equipment. The program's performance monitoring indicators showed a significant improvement in DR-TB detection and treatment success rates across all countries. The program's achievements in the first quarter of 2021 were significant, with a 25% increase in DR-TB detection and a 20% increase in treatment success rates for DR-TB patients in pilot oblasts. The program's enabling environment and financial sustainability indicators also showed improvement, with a 15% increase in the number of community-based TB services and a 10% increase in the number of gender-based violence services provided.
