Abstract
The region includes China, Mongolia, Burma, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia, the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, Macau, Cambodia, Brunei, Malaysia, Laos, East Timor, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tuvalu, Nauru, Kiribati, Palau, Tonga, Niue, Samoa, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Singapore, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and others. Agriculture and Food Security is a key sector in the region, with many countries vulnerable to natural disasters such as typhoons, floods, and droughts. The USAID/OFDA DRR program focuses on supporting countries in developing and implementing effective DRR strategies. The program has active stand-alone DRR programs in several countries, including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam. These programs aim to reduce the risk of disasters and improve the resilience of communities. In addition to stand-alone DRR programs, the USAID/OFDA program also supports countries with integrated DRR programs that combine disaster risk reduction with response efforts. Countries with active integrated DRR programs include the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. These programs aim to reduce the risk of disasters and improve the response to disasters when they occur. The USAID/OFDA DRR program also supports countries with both stand-alone and integrated DRR programs. These countries include the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia. The program provides technical assistance and funding to support the development and implementation of effective DRR strategies. The region's geography and climate make it prone to natural disasters, including typhoons, floods, and droughts. The USAID/OFDA DRR program works closely with governments, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to support the development and implementation of effective DRR strategies. The program's goal is to reduce the risk of disasters and improve the resilience of communities in the East Asia and Pacific region.
