Abstract
The report assesses the conservation-friendly enterprise (CFE) landscape in seven provinces in Vietnam, including Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, Son La, and Lao Cai. The project aims to promote sustainable forest management and conservation through the development of value chains and CFEs. The report identifies key commodities, value chains, and CFEs in each province, as well as barriers to developing these value chains and proposed interventions to address these barriers. In Quang Tri, the report identifies Tung oil, Arabica coffee, and Ginger as key commodities, with potential buyers and CFEs in the province. Barriers to developing these value chains include lack of market access, limited technical capacity, and high production costs. Proposed interventions include training and capacity building for CFEs, market linkage facilitation, and infrastructure development. In Quang Nam, the report identifies rattan, medicinal plants, and betel nut as key commodities, with potential buyers and CFEs in the province. Barriers to developing these value chains include lack of market access, limited technical capacity, and high production costs. Proposed interventions include training and capacity building for CFEs, market linkage facilitation, and infrastructure development. In Nghe An, the report identifies Lung, medicinal plants, and other commodities as key commodities, with potential buyers and CFEs in the province. Barriers to developing these value chains include lack of market access, limited technical capacity, and high production costs. Proposed interventions include training and capacity building for CFEs, market linkage facilitation, and infrastructure development. In Thanh Hoa, the report identifies ecotourism, Luong, and Cinnamon as key commodities, with potential buyers and CFEs in the province. Barriers to developing these value chains include lack of market access, limited technical capacity, and high production costs. Proposed interventions include training and capacity building for CFEs, market linkage facilitation, and infrastructure development. In Hoa Binh, the report identifies key commodities and potential buyers/CFEs in the province, as well as barriers to developing these value chains and proposed interventions to address these barriers. The report also assesses the enabling conditions for identifying and promoting sustainable development of CFEs, including factors such as market access, technical capacity, and infrastructure. The report provides a scoring exercise for value chain prioritization in each province, as well as an overview of the CFE landscape in each province. The USAID Sustainable Forest Management Project Conservation Enterprise Assessment Report provides a comprehensive assessment of the CFE landscape in seven provinces in Vietnam, identifying key commodities, value chains, and CFEs, as well as barriers to developing these value chains and proposed interventions to address these barriers. The report provides a valuable resource for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders seeking to promote sustainable forest management and conservation in Vietnam. The report highlights the importance of promoting sustainable forest management and conservation through the development of value chains and CFEs. The report also emphasizes the need for continued support and investment in CFEs and value chains to address the barriers to sustainable forest management and conservation in Vietnam. The report provides a framework for prioritizing value chains and CFEs based on their potential for sustainable development and conservation. The report also highlights the need for continued research and analysis to better understand the CFE landscape in Vietnam and to identify opportunities for sustainable forest management and conservation. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the CFE landscape in seven provinces in Vietnam, including Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, Son La, and Lao Cai. The report identifies key commodities, value chains, and CFEs in each province, as well as barriers to developing these value chains and proposed interventions to address these barriers.
