Abstract
The affected areas in Côte d'Ivoire include the western, northern, and central regions, while in Liberia, the affected areas are primarily in the western part of the country. The refugee population in the region is substantial, with over 182,551 refugees in Côte d'Ivoire as of May 20, 2011. This number includes refugees from various countries, including Togo, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Benin, Guinea-Bissau, The Gambia, Senegal, and Sierra Leone. In addition to refugees, there are also internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the region, with approximately 51,800 IDPs in IDP sites and an unknown number of IDPs in host families in Côte d'Ivoire. The humanitarian response in the region is led by various international organizations, including the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the World Food Programme (WFP), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
