Abstract
The project, which began in September 2019, aims to build, expand, and disseminate Positive Youth Development (PYD) evidence and learning within and across multiple sectors. The report highlights the progress made in Task 1, which involves advancing the PYD Learning Agenda and other youth-related learning agendas. During the first quarter of Year 4, Making Cents made progress in collecting baseline data for a cross-sectoral youth activity impact evaluation in Tanzania. The team also drafted data collection instruments and initiated discussions with USAID and MIHR regarding the expansion of the first-time parents program. In addition, the report notes that the study preparations for data collection on the Akazi Kanoze Youth in Rural Rwanda Project were completed, and a Statement of Work (SOW) was approved by USAID and a partner was selected. The team is also refining the study design and survey instrument in progress with partner inputs. Furthermore, the report highlights the progress made in Task 2, which involves growing the PYD Learning Network. The team is managing and expanding a vibrant PYD Learning Network, increasing the number of traditional and non-traditional partners collaborating, sharing, disseminating, and applying PYD best practices and lessons learned. The report also notes that the team is working on enhancing the YouthPower.org and YouthLead.org Platforms, which will increase the number of stakeholders informed by evidence, knowledge, and data on PYD. This will enable young change-makers to better apply PYD principles and practices. Finally, the report highlights the progress made in Task 4, which involves providing rapid response technical support through buy-ins. The team is increasing the number of PYD-focused USAID-funded activities and policies, as well as the capacity and understanding of USAID staff, partners, and youth-led/youth-serving organizations on PYD best practices and youth systems. Overall, the report demonstrates the progress made by Making Cents in achieving the expected results of the YP2LE project, which aims to build, expand, and disseminate PYD evidence and learning within and across multiple sectors.
