Abstract
The reserve spans an area of 223.8 hectares, as defined by the boundaries of the "La Reforma" property, which was registered as a natural reserve by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development through Resolution No. 0150 on November 28, 2014. The reserve is situated between the 4° 49' and 4° 48' meridians and the 71° 40' and 71° 40' parallels. The area is characterized by a mix of ecosystems, including agrosystems, amortiguación zones, conservation areas, and zones of intensive use and infrastructure. The conservation areas primarily consist of wooded zones, a stream, and nearby savannas. The reserve's zoning is divided into four main categories: agrosystems, amortiguación, conservation, and intensive use and infrastructure. Agrosystems cover approximately 74.5% of the reserve, primarily used for extensive grazing on natural pastures characteristic of the Llanos inundables region. The amortiguación zone, covering 2.9% of the area, serves as a buffer zone surrounding the conservation areas. The conservation areas, accounting for 14.3% of the reserve, are primarily composed of wooded zones and a stream. The zone of intensive use, covering 8.3% of the area, includes homes, barns, and access roads. The reserve's plan of management outlines the permitted uses for each zone, and further information can be obtained by consulting the plan. The establishment of the Reserva Natural de la Sociedad Civil La Reforma aims to conserve the region's biodiversity and promote sustainable land use practices.
