Abstract
(Project Hope), to improve health care services for infants, children, and women in Poland, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia. Activities will be in four areas: nursing education, care of high-risk newborn, women"s health care, and biomedical engineering. (1) The nursing education component will include an international symposium on the subject, establishment of Learning Resource Centers, development of model curricula, fellowships, and regional faculty preparation programs. (2) Care of high-risk newborn will undergo a needs assessment and survey of facilities, and a national task force will be created; curricula and training programs will be developed for health professionals and personnel in neonatal intensive care, and facilities will be improved. (3) In the area of women"s health, the project will develop national reporting forms, national and regional committees to review mortality and morbidity data and cervical and breast cancer, training programs, surveys, regional perinatal programs, and health promotion programs. (4) The project will also design and renovate a biomedical engineering facility and develop equipment acquisition and management programs.
