AID grant agreement no. 674-0301-G-SS-4046-00 with the National Literacy Co-operation to provide voter education to the illiterate and semi-literate adult population of South Africa
Grant is provided under the Community Outreach and Leadership Development Project (6740301) in South Africa to the National Literacy Cooperation to hold voter education workshops for its literacy groups in the ten regions of the country; about 30 such workshops will be held in each region.

Abstract
NLC will also develop voter education materials geared for illiterate and semi-literate adults, and translate the materials into six ethnic languages. In all, the program will help to prepare some 31,900 people for South Africa"s first nonracial elections, to be held in April 1994, and to establish an "Education for Democracy" training program as part of the literacy curriculum.
