Abstract
The program is funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and is part of the AIDS, Population and Health Integrated Assistance (APHIA) program. The program's effective project dates are from May 14, 2007, to May 13, 2012. During the reporting period of July to September 2010, the program achieved several key milestones. According to Table 1, the program achieved 95% of its targets for the quarter. The Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) cascade, as shown in Table 2, indicates that 85% of pregnant women received HIV testing, and 75% of those who tested positive received antiretroviral therapy. The program's counseling and testing services, as shown in Table 3, indicate that 90% of the target population received counseling and testing services. The TB indicators, as shown in Table 4, indicate that 80% of TB patients received antiretroviral therapy. The CD4 sample referral performance, as shown in Table 5, indicates that 85% of patients with CD4 counts below 350 received antiretroviral therapy. The program's reproductive health and family planning services, as shown in Table 6, indicate that 80% of the target population received family planning services. The training for capacity-building and systems strengthening, as shown in Table 7, indicates that 90% of the target population received training. The program's expanded civil society activities to increase healthy behavior include abstinence and being faithful, as well as other prevention activities. According to Table 8, the program's systems strengthening activities include the establishment of an Area Advisory Committee and the development of an Annual Operational Plan. The program's expanded care and support for people and families affected by HIV and AIDS includes services for orphans and vulnerable children. According to Table 11, the total number of OVC beneficiaries in the North Eastern Province is 2,500. The program's strategic information includes key observations on performance, challenges, and planned activities for the next quarter. According to Figure 1, counseling and testing at ANC (antenatal care) services increased by 20% during the quarter. According to Figure 2, mother and infant Nevirapine uptake at ANC services increased by 15% during the quarter. The program's infrastructure update, as shown in Table 9, indicates that the program has established a new health facility in the region. The program's summary of HBC services, as shown in Table 10, indicates that 90% of the target population received HIV testing and counseling services. Overall, the APHIA II North Eastern Province program has made significant progress in improving health outcomes in the region. The program's achievements include increased counseling and testing services, improved TB indicators, and increased reproductive health and family planning services.
