The Learning Action Cell (LAC) Facilitator's Guide is a resource designed to support facilitators in conducting LAC sessions.
2016 · 48 pages

Abstract
The guide outlines a structured approach to facilitating LAC sessions, which consist of four parts: Sharing, Discussion of Theme and Topic, Activity, and What We Will Do Next. Before the LAC session, facilitators are advised to send a written reminder to teachers to bring their Revised Teacher's Guides (RTG) and the LAC session agenda. Teachers are also asked to prepare to share their experiences and bring student work or learning materials developed in the past month. The Sharing Session is the first part of the LAC session, where teachers share their experiences and reflections on implementing the RTG in their classroom. This is followed by the Discussion of Theme and Topic, where the facilitator introduces a new topic and guides the discussion using trigger videos and guide questions. The Activity section involves professional development, where teachers select lessons and activities to apply the new knowledge and skills introduced in the session. This work is often done in pairs, small groups, or individually. The What We Will Do Next section is a planning session, where teachers share what they plan to do and discuss how they will collect evidence on the outcome. The facilitator and participants also confirm the date for the next LAC meeting and send questions by text message or email. The LAC Facilitator's Guide provides a detailed outline of the LAC session sequence, including the materials needed, such as the LAC session agenda, trigger video, video player, and whiteboard and marker for writing key points. The guide also outlines the steps to be followed during the LAC session, including presenting the LAC session agenda and proceeding with the agenda as outlined in the guide. The guide emphasizes the importance of congratulating and celebrating teachers' efforts and encouraging them to share newly developed learning aids. It also highlights the need for teachers to view accompanying trigger videos and use guide questions to stimulate discussion. Overall, the LAC Facilitator's Guide provides a structured approach to facilitating LAC sessions, which aim to support teachers in implementing the Revised Teacher's Guide and improving their teaching practices.
