Abstract
The project was funded by Conserva Colombia, Corantioquia, the Alcaldía de Carolina del Principe, and the Fundación Grupo HTM. The project aimed to characterize and consolidate the SIMAP of Carolina del Principe, a municipality located in the subregion of Norte in the department of Antioquia. The project methodology involved a participatory and communicational strategy, which included the identification, prioritization, and characterization of areas and elements of conservation for the SIMAP. The project team conducted exploratory biodiversity surveys, which included generalities of the surveys, description of the survey sites, methods used, and results obtained. The project also characterized the social aspects of the actors involved in the management of the SIMAP, including their characteristics, interest, and influence. The project resulted in the adoption of the SIMAP of Carolina del Principe through the Municipal Agreement No. 013 of 2014. The project also contributed to the development of concepts and definitions for the SIMAP, including the identification of priority areas and elements of conservation. The project's findings and recommendations are expected to inform the development of the SIMAP and contribute to the conservation of biodiversity in the municipality. The project team consisted of experts from various fields, including biology, ecology, and social sciences. The team worked closely with local stakeholders, including the Alcaldía de Carolina del Principe, Corantioquia, and the Fundación Grupo HTM. The project's success was made possible through the collaboration and coordination of the project team and the local stakeholders. The project's results and recommendations are expected to contribute to the development of the SIMAP and inform conservation efforts in the municipality. The project's findings on the characterization of the SIMAP and the identification of priority areas and elements of conservation are expected to inform the development of conservation strategies and policies in the municipality.
