Abstract
The project was executed by the Fundación Palmarito and funded by the Fondo Acción. The project's main objective was to support the registration of four private protected areas as Reservas Naturales de la Sociedad Civil (RNSC) with Parques Nacionales. The project's activities were carried out between August 2013 and December 2014. The first activity was the collection of documents required by Parques Nacionales for the registration of the RNSC. This included the submission of a request for registration, a geographical location of the property, a brief descriptive report on the characteristics of the natural ecosystem, and other supporting documents. The project team also met with the property owners to discuss the zonification of each property and the activities that would be carried out on each one. The project also included the characterization of the biological and geographical aspects of each property. The biological characterization involved the study of the flora, fauna, and ecosystems of each property, while the geographical characterization involved the study of the property's location, boundaries, and zoning. The project team also developed plans of management for each property, which outlined the conservation, productive, and social goals for each one. The project's methodology involved the use of a guide for the elaboration of plans of management for RNSC, published by Parques Nacionales and other organizations. The project team also consulted with the property owners and other stakeholders to ensure that the plans of management were tailored to the specific needs and goals of each property. The project's results included the submission of the registration requests to Parques Nacionales, the development of plans of management for each property, and the characterization of the biological and geographical aspects of each property. The project's impact was significant, as it helped to promote the establishment of protected areas in the department of Casanare and supported the registration of four private protected areas as RNSC with Parques Nacionales. The project also contributed to the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of natural resources in the region.
