Conservacolombia: A Stimulus Package for Subnational Protected Area Establishment in Colombia

The initiative is focused on the Dagua region, specifically the Vereda El Chilcal, Corregimiento el Limonar, Municipio de Dagua, Departamento del Valle del Cauca. The characterization of the biophysical aspects of the area was conducted through a preliminary bibliographic review of the site and surrounding areas. A field visit was also conducted by the Fundación GAIA team to observe the natural coverages, planted areas, and potential pressures on the environment. The characterization of the biophysical aspects of the area revealed the presence of various ecosystems, including the Subandino and Subxerofitico forests.
