Abstract
The Activity aims to build capacity of Ugandan institutions, professionals, and citizens to better understand, monitor, and manage the environmental impacts of the oil and gas sector. The Activity has three expected results: strengthened capacity of Ugandan institutions to manage the environmental impacts of the oil and gas sector, strengthened capacity of Ugandan professionals in the private and public sectors to manage the environmental impacts of the oil and gas sector, and strengthened capacity of Uganda's civil society to participate in decision-making in the oil and gas sector. The Activity has eight sub-results and thirteen activities, with Tetra Tech having contractual obligations to deliver on the results and sub-results but flexibility regarding activities for achieving these. The Activity's guiding principles for delivery on the results are "collaborating, learning, adapting" through existing institutions and processes to add value. The Activity works with the Government of Uganda's Environmental Pillar Organizations, academic institutions, District Local Governments, communities, private sector oil companies, and Civil Society Organizations. The Activity has a four-year contract with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Tetra Tech, with an effective start date of September 2013. The Activity's implementation team includes Tetra Tech, Texas A&M University, and Blue Hadron as subcontractors.
