Abstract
Funded under USAID Contract No. AID-OAA-I-15-00004, the project connects technical solutions and proven commercial processes to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities. The goal is to save lives and create a healthier future for all. GHSC-PSM is implemented by Chemonics International, in collaboration with several partner organizations, including Arbola Inc., Axios International Inc., IDA Foundation, IBM, IntraHealth International, Kuehne + Nagel Inc., McKinsey & Company, Panagora Group, Population Services International, SGS Nederland B.V., and University Research Co., LLC. The project purchases and delivers health commodities, offers comprehensive technical assistance to strengthen national supply chain systems, and provides global supply chain leadership. In Fiscal Year 2023, GHSC-PSM achieved significant progress in various health areas, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, family planning and reproductive health, and maternal, newborn, and child health. The project's global commodity procurement and logistics efforts resulted in cost savings on medicines and health commodities, as well as cost savings on logistics. GHSC-PSM also made progress in strengthening health systems through advanced analytics, global standards and traceability, forecasting and supply planning, management information systems, laboratory networks, warehousing and distribution, workforce development, strategy and design, end-use verification, national supply chain assessment, and learning agenda. In the HIV/AIDS area, GHSC-PSM supported PEPFAR's HIV prevention agenda, the First 95: Testing, the Second 95: Treatment, and the Third 95: Viral-Load Testing. The project also improved HIV/AIDS supply chain data visibility and commodity security, with a 27% increase in on-time delivery and a 25% reduction in cost. In the malaria area, GHSC-PSM achieved cost savings on malaria commodities, improved commodity sourcing, procurement, and delivery, and implemented a rapid fulfillment mechanism strategy. The project also developed a modeling tool and guidance for inventory management for low-malaria-endemic settings. In the family planning and reproductive health area, GHSC-PSM achieved cost savings on contraceptives and addressed FP/RH priorities. In the maternal, newborn, and child health area, the project improved maternal health, child health, and newborn health, and provided supply chain support and coordination. GHSC-PSM also made progress in global collaboration, including strategic engagement, knowledge sharing, country collaboration, collaboration with other USAID GHSC projects, and other global collaboration. The project's performance in Fiscal Year 2023 was marked by significant achievements in global commodity procurement and logistics, systems-strengthening technical assistance, and global collaboration. GHSC-PSM's efforts have contributed to improved health outcomes and a healthier future for all.
