Abstract
The activity aims to improve health outcomes for underserved Filipinos, particularly in the areas of family planning and maternal and neonatal health. The geographic coverage of the activity spans across the Philippines, with a focus on 12 sites in Luzon, 9 sites in Visayas, and 11 sites in Mindanao. The activity targets 12 regions, including Central Luzon, Calabarzon, National Capital Region, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Mindanao. The implementing partner, RTI International, collaborates with subcontractors Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs and Duke University Global Health Innovation Center to achieve the activity's objectives. The activity's objectives are centered around improving health outcomes for underserved Filipinos, particularly in the areas of family planning and maternal and neonatal health. The activity focuses on increasing access to family planning services, improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes, and strengthening the capacity of local health systems to provide quality health services. Key achievements for the quarter include the implementation of family planning competency-based training (FPCBT) for health care providers, the establishment of adolescent-friendly hospitals (AFH), and the conduct of focus group discussions (FGD) to gather data on reproductive health knowledge and practices among women of reproductive age (WRA). The activity also reports on progress in implementing the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for reproductive health, as well as the development of a health emergency management plan (HEMP) for disaster-prone areas.
