Abstract
The activity aims to improve health outcomes for underserved Filipinos through family planning and maternal and neonatal health innovations and capacity building platforms. The activity began on December 1, 2018, and is scheduled to end on November 30, 2023. The geographic focus of the activity is the Philippines, with a specific emphasis on improving health outcomes in underserved areas. The activity is designed to address the country's high unmet need for family planning and maternal and neonatal health services, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas. The activity's objectives include increasing access to modern family planning methods, improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes, and strengthening the capacity of local health systems to provide high-quality family planning and maternal and neonatal health services. To achieve these objectives, the activity will implement a range of interventions, including training for healthcare providers, community outreach and education, and the establishment of a network of service delivery points. The activity will also focus on improving the quality of family planning and maternal and neonatal health services through the implementation of a quality improvement framework. This framework will include the development of standards for service delivery, the establishment of a system for monitoring and evaluating service quality, and the provision of technical assistance to healthcare providers to improve their skills and knowledge. In addition to improving health outcomes, the activity will also focus on strengthening the capacity of local health systems to provide high-quality family planning and maternal and neonatal health services. This will be achieved through the provision of technical assistance to healthcare providers, the establishment of a network of service delivery points, and the development of a system for monitoring and evaluating service quality. The activity will also engage with local stakeholders, including government officials, healthcare providers, and community leaders, to ensure that the interventions are tailored to the specific needs of the target population and that they are sustainable in the long term. This will involve the establishment of a technical working group to provide guidance and oversight to the activity, as well as the development of a plan for sustainability and self-reliance. Overall, the ReachHealth activity aims to improve health outcomes for underserved Filipinos through a range of interventions that address the country's high unmet need for family planning and maternal and neonatal health services. The activity will focus on improving access to modern family planning methods, strengthening the capacity of local health systems, and engaging with local stakeholders to ensure that the interventions are tailored to the specific needs of the target population and are sustainable in the long term.
