Abstract
The program is a collaborative effort between the Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) and the Human Resources for Health (HRH) Project, with technical support from the Jhpiego Corporation. The program is focused on improving the quality of laboratory services in clinical settings, with a specific emphasis on strengthening the capacity of laboratory practicum supervisors to provide high-quality training and mentorship to students. The program's objectives include enhancing the skills and knowledge of laboratory practicum supervisors, improving the quality of laboratory services, and increasing the capacity of clinical laboratories to provide high-quality training and mentorship to students. The program consists of six modules, each focusing on a specific aspect of laboratory practicum supervision. Module 1, Foundations, covers the role of the practicum lab supervisor, strengths and weaknesses, treating patients with respect, and creating practicum supervisor plans. Module 2, Student Assessment, focuses on panel discussions, assessment tools, and communication between clinical sites and schools. Module 3, Educator Support, covers who can help me, grab bag of role play, and using a learning plan. Module 4, Culture of Caring, emphasizes team and trust building and practicing self-care. Module 5, Communication Skills, covers brainstorming, conflict diagnosis, conflict management, and conflict resolution. Module 6, Clinical Reasoning, focuses on the "What's the Evidence?" game. The program is designed to be implemented in a group-based setting, with a suggested course schedule provided.
