Abstract
A single teacher is responsible for teaching and managing the class throughout the school year. MG classes are often found in schools with a small number of students or in remote areas such as rural villages and mountain communities. The Basa Pilipinas project, in collaboration with the Department of Education, aims to provide teachers of MG classes with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively teach their students. The project offers training and teaching materials, including Teacher's Guides and books, to support the teaching of MG classes. The teaching materials for MG classes are designed to cater to the individual abilities and needs of students. The materials are organized into two cycles: the Even cycle and the Odd cycle. The Even cycle is for school years 2014, 2016, 2018, and so on, while the Odd cycle is for school years 2015, 2017, 2019, and so on. Each unit of the school year follows a two-week instructional sequence, where students learn a single topic or theme over two weeks. The teaching materials for MG classes include a Teacher's Guide, a Read Aloud Story, a Leveled Reader, and additional notes on teaching MG classes. The Teacher's Guide provides a detailed outline of the lessons to be taught, while the Read Aloud Story and Leveled Reader are used to support the teaching of reading skills. The additional notes provide tips and suggestions for teaching MG classes, including how to adapt the materials to the needs of students from different grade levels. The Basa Pilipinas project has developed a range of teaching materials for MG classes, including a Teacher's Guide for school years 2014, 2015, 2016, and so on. The materials are designed to support the teaching of reading, writing, and other skills to students from different grade levels. The teaching materials for MG classes are organized into units, with each unit covering a specific topic or theme. The units are designed to be flexible, allowing teachers to adapt the materials to the needs of their students. The materials include a range of activities and exercises to support the teaching of reading, writing, and other skills. The Basa Pilipinas project has also developed a range of resources to support the teaching of MG classes, including a handbook for teachers of MG classes and a profile of multigrade schools in the Philippines. These resources provide additional information and guidance for teachers of MG classes, including tips and suggestions for adapting the materials to the needs of their students. Overall, the teaching materials for MG classes are designed to support the effective teaching of students from different grade levels. The materials are flexible and adaptable, allowing teachers to tailor their teaching to the needs of their students. The Basa Pilipinas project has developed a range of resources to support the teaching of MG classes, including training and teaching materials, and additional notes and resources for teachers.
