Abstract
(JSI) in partnership with the International Population Council and Center for Development Services. The program aims to increase evidence-based planning, decision-making, and policy formulation, including contraceptive security in Egypt, by supporting high-quality family planning/reproductive health services and enhancing selected health behaviors. The program works with the Government of Egypt to control the country's rapid population growth by reducing the unmet needs of women and men for family planning counseling services and methods. The SEFPP team provides technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP)/FP Sector and the National Population Council (NPC), its counterpart organizations, to reinvigorate and sustain Egypt's family planning program. During Activity Year 3, SEFPP conducted 76 training workshops and trained a total of 1,415 people. The workshops supported various MOHP/FP Sector activities to improve family planning services delivery by improving clinical practice and knowledge, awareness, and skills of public and private-sector family planning providers. Trainings on reproductive health/family planning were also extended to private factory workers in the targeted nine governorates in Upper Egypt and in slum areas of Cairo and Alexandria. Throughout Activity Year 3, the program units produced 13 diverse technical materials that the MOHP/FP Sector approved and which are being used and replicated by other partners. These materials include training manuals, guidelines, and other resources to support the delivery of high-quality family planning services. The program's geographic coverage includes Aswan, Luxor, Qena, Sohag, Assiut, Minya, Beni Suef, Fayoum, Giza, and slum areas in Cairo and Alexandria. The reporting period for this annual report is October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the work environment and the Government of Egypt's regulation changes, SEFPP had to find a way to continue supporting the MOHP/FP Sector and the NPC with a six-month plan with required changes in the Year 3 workplan. The pandemic resulted in major changes and challenges, including the closure of the SEFPP office and the implementation of remote work for staff. The program's achievements during Activity Year 3 include the production of 13 technical materials, the conduct of 76 training workshops, and the training of 1,415 people. These achievements demonstrate the program's commitment to supporting high-quality family planning services and enhancing selected health behaviors in Egypt. The program's partnership with the International Population Council and Center for Development Services has been instrumental in achieving its objectives. The partnership has enabled the program to leverage the expertise and resources of its partners to support the delivery of high-quality family planning services. The program's work with the Government of Egypt has been critical in achieving its objectives. The program's technical assistance to the MOHP/FP Sector and the NPC has helped to reinvigorate and sustain Egypt's family planning program. The program's achievements during Activity Year 3 demonstrate its commitment to supporting high-quality family planning services and enhancing selected health behaviors in Egypt. The program's partnership with the International Population Council and Center for Development Services and its work with the Government of Egypt have been instrumental in achieving its objectives.
