Abstract
The project is implemented by Advanced Engineering Associates International, Inc. (AEAI) and is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project's goal is to increase energy efficiency in public buildings and reduce energy costs. Energy consumption in Tuzla Canton is estimated to be 5 million KM in buildings and areas under municipality competence, and 240 million KM in the residential sector. The public administration can influence the reduction of energy consumption by developing measuring and regulating energy consumption in all public buildings, using the best available energy measures when renovating public buildings, and introducing energy consumption-based paying systems. Systematic management of energy consumption is essential to minimize energy costs and increase energy efficiency. This involves continuous monitoring of energy consumption, analyzing and interpreting the results, and taking adequate measures to reduce energy consumption. The systematic management of energy consumption includes capacity development, organizational structure, implementation, and monitoring of results. The project aims to increase energy efficiency in public buildings by implementing energy efficiency improvement projects. The goals of the project include monitoring and control over energy consumption, identification of places with unnecessary or excessive energy consumption, and implementation of energy efficiency improvement projects. The project also aims to actualize financial and energy savings, start up construction and ancillary sectors through implementation of energy efficiency projects, and reduce environment pollution. The project involves the establishment of an Energy Efficiency (EE) unit in each municipality, which will be responsible for monitoring and controlling energy consumption, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing energy efficiency projects. The EE unit will consist of a local energy manager, a team for energy management, and a citizens' council. The project also aims to establish an EE information center and an EE corner in each municipality to raise awareness about energy efficiency and provide information to citizens. The project's objectives are to reduce energy consumption in public buildings, increase energy efficiency, and reduce energy costs. The project will achieve these objectives by implementing energy efficiency improvement projects, monitoring and controlling energy consumption, and raising awareness about energy efficiency among citizens. The project's success will depend on the effective implementation of the energy efficiency improvement projects and the establishment of a sustainable energy management system in each municipality.
