Abstract
According to the UNICEF's Committing to Child Survival: A Promise Renewed Progress Report 2013, Mali has achieved significant reductions in under-5 mortality since 1990. However, gains in ANC attendance, facility-based births, and vaccination coverage for children 12-23 months of age are not yet sufficient to address the high rates of maternal and under-5 mortality. The USAID-funded Services de Santé à Grand Impact (SSGI) program aims to improve MNCH outcomes in Mali. The program focuses on increasing access to quality health services, particularly for vulnerable populations such as women and children. Key interventions include strengthening health systems, improving maternal and newborn care, and increasing access to family planning and reproductive health services. The SSGI program operates in several regions of Mali, including the Kayes, Koulikoro, and Sikasso regions. The program works closely with local health authorities, community health workers, and other stakeholders to implement its interventions. The program also conducts regular monitoring and evaluation to assess its impact and identify areas for improvement. The SSGI program has made significant progress in improving MNCH outcomes in Mali. According to the program's annual report, there has been a 27% increase in household income among program participants compared to the control group.
